Developing Leadership Role of the Flood-Stricken Marginalized Women
The objective of the project was to give recognition to Women Human Rights and end GBV in the flood-affected areas. To bring the women out of trauma to start new and hopeful life by giving them ample understanding about RH, HIV/AIDS and life skills. The intervention aimed to see women becoming empowered to help themselves out of the Gender Based Violence and by developing their leadership abilities.
PHDF had developed South Punjab Women Rights Network (SPWRN) and the activities were implemented through this network in order to strengthen it and work affectively in their areas to raise status of women and develop their leadership skills. SPWRN members identified groups of flood affected disable/old and women heading their HHs, young girls and boys & men for implementing project activities. 105 women given counseling in 3 districts through sessions and theater performances.
Flood affected young girls and boys men and women enriched with RH, HIV/AIDS, Life Skills and VAW information. 300 people celebrated the International Day for HIV/AIDS in 3 districts ( Dera Ghazi Khan, Muzaffargarh and RajanPur) collectively Women were referred to crisis centers for solution of their problems Inspirational and motivating IEC material promoting messages of leadership of women was disseminated during the project time period.
